When I was growing up in Istanbul many of my memories revolve around food. My Grandmother cooked everything from scratch and it was delicious. I would sit around her kitchen table learning secrets about her cooking. Those were happy days. Her kitchen table became the heart of our family. I still feel the tastes in my mouth. In many ways sitting around my Grandmother's kitchen table taught me how to cook and defined what "family" means for me.
